We partner with Yodlee, the same service used by sites such as Mint.com.
We do not store credentials
Because of FutureAdvisor's partnership with Yodlee, we do not need to and thus never store your banking credentials. After the one-time setup, FutureAdvisor communicates with Yodlee via authentication tokens unique to our service, and relies on Yodlee's decade-long experience in connecting with financial institutions to read your portfolio details so we can make recommendations.
No one can move any money
FutureAdvisor is a Read Only service, so no one can ever use FutureAdvisor to move money, enact trades, or sell securities. Our recommendations are provided to clients with the understanding that clients will have to contact their brokerage directly to enact the recommended changes.
Bank-level security
FutureAdvisor uses 256-bit SSL encryption for all information transfers, the same connection banks use. In addition, our practices are monitored and secured by Verisign.
